Since 1904, when George Gutchess founded the Company on a small farm in upstate New York, Gutchess Lumber has been a leading lumber producer of premium northern hardwoods used in such applications as furniture, flooring, cabinetry, and architectural millwork. We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality in all that we do. Quality is at the core of our brand promise and we are proud of the reputation we have in the industry.
Today we are a global provider of Hard Maple, Red Oak, White Ash, Black Cherry, Red Maple, White Oak, Poplar, Black Walnut, Hickory, and Basswood. Our company offers Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified lumber in a number of species. We have seven locations operating in the New York and Pennsylvania area with over five million feet of kiln drying capacity and three sawmills producing more than 90 million feet annually.
Gutchess Lumber practices a crop rotation system in its forestry procurement practices that enables harvesting of woodlots on 15 year cycles. Practicing sustainable forestry has been our practice long before the phrase was first coined. Today there are more hardwood forests in New York State than when my great-great grandfather started the company.
Being located in the heart of where premium hardwoods grow has been instrumental to our success along with our focus on producing the finest quality hardwoods available. Key to our success is the over 400 dedicated employee owners as we are an employee stock ownership plan company. Some of our employees are the third generation in their family to work for the company
Standing behind our product is what we have done for over one hundred years and we are steadfast in our commitment to continue to do so. We welcome the opportunity to put our experience and expertise to work for you. Thank you for considering our company for your hardwood lumber needs.
