PEFC is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization
dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management.
Acting as a global forest certification umbrella organization, PEFC
endorses qualified forestry certification systems and verifies
sustainability through periodic independent audits. PEFC is
currently the world's largest forest certification system with
almost 210,000,000 hectares of forests certified. 29 different
forest certification schemes are endorsed by PEFC, including ATFS, SFI,
CSA, and many national schemes throughout Europe.
