Red Maple is similar in appearance to Hard Maple, but is softer and slightly more difficult to work with. The sapwood is creamy white and the heartwood is reddish-brown.
Its very fine grain is commonly dotted with pith flecks, though occasionally the wood is also characterized by highly prized figure patterns. Our Red Maple is sawn in

4/4" to 12/4" thicknesses and graded WHAD. Color, figure and width sorted lumber
bundles are generally available.

Harvesting Region

Our Red Maple trees grow in professionally managed, environmentally sustainable timberland in New York and Pennsylvania. Lumber from this region is generally
preferred as the colder temperatures are inhospitable to beetles that damage the wood.

Our modern manufacturing facilities are strategically located near prime Red Maple timberland, interstate superhighways, rail networks and some of the busiest seaports in
the world—all of which allow us to offer our premium quality products at competitive prices.

Relative Working & Physical Properties

Red Maple is softer than Hard Maple, and is slightly
more difficult to work with. It has medium bending and crushing strength, and low shock resistance. During drying it exhibits little degrade. It glues, nails and screws satisfactorily, but machines well and can be polished to
an outstanding finish similar to Hard Maple or stained to resemble Cherry.
