Where it Grows

Our Red Oak trees grow in professionally managed, environmentally sustainable timberlands in
Pennsylvania and New York. Buyers report that uniformity of color coupled with relatively slow growth give the area Red Oak superior texture for higher value added manufacturing.

Our modern manufacturing facilities are strategically located near the best Northern
Red Oak timberlands, interstate superhighways, rail networks and some of the busiest seaports in the world—all of which allow us to offer premium products at competitive prices (see Species Map).

Relative Working & Physical Properties

Red Oak is hard and heavy with good crushing strength and excellent steam bending properties. It machines well, is good for nailing and screwing and polishes and stains to a very decent finish. It dries slowly with large shrinkage and has a tendency to split so careful drying is recommended.
