Yellow Poplar is a light, soft and abundant hardwood.
The sapwood is a creamy yellow or white; the heartwood
is usually a dark brown, but often has green casts or even light purple mineral stain. Our regional Yellow Poplar is a much whiter product than stock found in the South.

Harvesting Region

Our Yellow Poplar grows in professionally managed, environmentally sustainable timberland in New York and Pennsylvania. The wood from this area generally exhibits whiter colors than stock found in the South.

Our modern manufacturing facilities are strategically
located near our timberland, interstate superhighways,

rail networks and some of the busiest seaports in the world—all of which allow us to offer
our premium quality products at competitive prices.

Relative Working & Physical Properties

Yellow Poplar is a light and soft hardwood. It machines
easily and accepts and holds fasteners well with pre-drilling. Because of its low density Yellow Poplar has a tendency to fuzz and tear, so sharp tools are necessary. Yellow Poplar takes paint and stain especially well,
making it an economical choice for painted applications.
